Hey, Ya’ll!
I’m Tay. ❤️
Welcome to The Heart of a Medical Mama, a little corner of the internet where faith meets fear, motherhood gets messy, and nobody has to pretend they have it all together.
I’m Tay! A boy mama of two, author, small business owner, Jesus lover, and a woman who has probably consumed more coffee, whiskey and whispered more desperate prayers than she’d ever care to admit.
But there’s another title I carry that I never imagined would become such a big part of my story.
Medical Mama.
When my youngest son, Mason, was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot, my entire world changed.
Suddenly, motherhood looked a whole lot different than I had imagined.
Instead of worrying about the usual newborn things, I was learning medical terminology I couldn’t pronounce, memorizing medication schedules, and putting my baby’s life into the hands of people I had only just met.
Our journey has included open-heart surgeries, cardiac arrest, ECMO, countless appointments, hospital stays, and more moments of uncertainty than I can count.
It’s also included miracles, laughter, answered prayers, and a little boy who continues to remind me what true strength looks like.
And somewhere along the way, I realized something.
Nobody really talks about what happens to the mama after the medical emergency is over.
The anxiety that follows you home.
The way your stomach drops when the hospital calls.
The guilt you feel when you’re exhausted.
The fear that creeps in when everything is finally going right.
The complicated relationship between trusting God and being absolutely terrified.
Yeah, we’re going to talk about all of that here.
But this blog isn’t just about hospital rooms and heart defects.
It’s about motherhood, marriage, faith, finding yourself again, and learning how to build a beautiful life even when things don’t go according to plan.
It’s about raising two boys while juggling businesses, chasing dreams, writing books, and occasionally wondering if I’ve completely lost my mind for trying to do it all.
It’s about the hard days, the hilarious moments, the messy middle, and everything in between.
I’m not a doctor. I’m not a therapist. And I definitely don’t have all the answers.
I’m just a mama who has walked through some really dark valleys, held onto her faith with shaking hands, and decided that maybe sharing her story could help someone else feel a little less alone.
My hope is that when you visit this space, you feel like you’ve found a friend.
Someone who understands that you can be grateful and exhausted.
Faithful and afraid.
Strong and completely overwhelmed.
All at the same time.
Because here’s what I’ve learned:
You don’t have to be fearless to be a good mama. You just have to keep loving, keep showing up, and keep putting one foot in front of the other.
So grab your coffee, pull up a chair, and stay awhile.
There’s room for you here.
And whatever brought you to this little corner of the internet, I hope you leave knowing one thing.
You’re not walking this journey alone.
With love, faith, and a whole lot of coffee,
Tay ❤️
